Uno de sus m\u00e1s recientes aportes cient\u00edficos, publicado en la revista <em>Veterinaria<\/em> (2025), detect\u00f3 una seroprevalencia del <strong>30% de <em>Neospora caninum<\/em><\/strong> en vacas del sector de <strong>Belisario Quevedo<\/strong>, Latacunga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este par\u00e1sito intracelular, causante de abortos, reducci\u00f3n en la producci\u00f3n de leche y otros problemas reproductivos, representa una amenaza significativa para la productividad ganadera. El estudio se realiz\u00f3 mediante la t\u00e9cnica ELISA-i en 164 vacas lecheras, revelando que <strong>las vacas entre 6 y 8 a\u00f1os<\/strong> presentaron mayor riesgo de infecci\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, se encontr\u00f3 una mayor proporci\u00f3n de seropositividad en animales sometidos a <strong>monta natural<\/strong> en comparaci\u00f3n con la inseminaci\u00f3n artificial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ruminants.ceva.pro\/hubfs\/razas%20de%20vaca.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:750px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Aunque la asociaci\u00f3n estad\u00edstica con estos factores no fue concluyente (p&gt;0.05), los resultados sugieren una <strong>posible transmisi\u00f3n vertical persistente<\/strong> desde madres infectadas a sus cr\u00edas. Otros factores como la raza, el origen del animal, la altitud o la presencia de perros no mostraron correlaciones significativas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este estudio marca un precedente importante, ya que <strong>es el primero en reportar datos epidemiol\u00f3gicos de neosporosis bovina en esta parroquia de Cotopaxi<\/strong>.
